How to Find Her Ring Size Without Ruining the Surprise
The most common proposal-planning worry, solved. Here are five ways to get an accurate size without a single suspicious question.
Borrow a ring she already wears
The easiest method by far. Borrow a ring she wears on her right ring finger (sizes are usually close between hands) under any excuse — 'getting my ring cleaned, want to bring yours too?' — and either trace it, or bring it to us directly for an exact measurement.
Ask a friend or family member to help
Someone she trusts can casually ask, or better, borrow a ring on your behalf without you needing to invent a reason yourself. Two degrees of separation goes a long way for secrecy.
Use a sleeping-hand measurement
A bit bold, but effective: slip a ring sizer (we can send you one) or a strip of string or paper around her finger while she's asleep, mark it, and you have your measurement by morning.
Pay attention to existing jewelry sizing
If she's ever mentioned her ring size for another piece, or if you find a receipt or a ring subscription box, that's a direct answer — no measuring required.
When in doubt, size up slightly
If you truly can't get an accurate measurement, a slightly large ring is a much easier fix than a slightly small one. We can always resize after — just let us know at your consultation that the size is an estimate, and we'll build in room to adjust.
You don't have to have it perfect
Most rings can be resized 1–2 sizes up or down with no issue after the proposal, once she can try it on herself. The size doesn't need to be exact on day one — the ring does.
